We will be launching the DEER LAKE FILM FESTIVAL in 2010 to provide a venue for emerging filmmakers in the Greater Vancouver region. And who are these emerging filmmakers? They are are the high school, college and university students, as well as the recently graduated, who perhaps do not feel ready to compete on a national level, but who deserve an audience for there best work.
The festival will launch under the auspices of the Burnaby Arts Council, which is an advocacy group with a proven track record in nurturing and promoting talent in the arts. Further details will appear here soon, but in
the meantime enjoy a couple of photographs of our 2010 venue.
A beautiful B&W image of the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby. It was created by Vancouver photographer Eugene Palomado, who has a very popular Flickr page.
A performance of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra on expansive lawn of the Shadbolt Centre. This is also the venue for the annual Deer Lake Jazz Festival, which has become the most popular outdoor concert in Burnaby. [A Webshots image by local photographer Jokipeti.]
